Workplace Violence received media attention in the late 80’S after a part – time postal employee walked into the Edmond, OK post office and killed 14 people. This was not the first tragedy of its kind. Three years earlier four postal employees were killed by present or formal co-workers in South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia. After the Edmond shooting the phrase “work-place violence” was attached to any murder or other violent acts by a disturbed, aggrieved employee or formal employee against co-workers or supervisors.
